Location: Jade APANO Multicultural Space (JAMS), 8114 SE Division Street, Portland, OR
On August 30, UNIT SOUZOU’s first annual TaikoWorks showcase will explore endings and beginnings, goodbyes and hellos. The site-specific show will serve as an opportunity for the community to say goodbye to the current incarnation of an important, relevant community space, the Jade APANO Multicultural Space (JAMS). TaikoWorks will also boast exciting beginnings for UNIT SOUZOU, with the Portland debut of their new professional ensemble, as well as the debut of new work.
TaikoWorks will feature exciting artistic milestones:
- Debut of the Unit Souzou professional ensemble in Portland
- Premiere of new composition, Entangled, composed by ensemble member, David Wells for the Unit Souzou community group
- Performance of thematic works inspired by the sacredness of goodbye created by the Unit Souzou professional ensemble
Unit Souzou welcomes all to this performance, and have set the tickets at a pay-what-you-can rate.
This event is part of MicCheck!, a summer cultural event series organized by the Arts & Media Project (AMP) at the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon. MicCheck! utilizes the arts to illuminate pressing issues affecting Asians and Pacific Islanders and multiracial communities of color. Visit apano.org/mic-check for the full lineup.
To help subsidize this ticketing structure and artistic work, we have started a fundraising drive, Goodbye, Hello: A new artistic leap for Unit Souzou campaign. Your contribution would allow us to fully embrace and realize a new artistic milestone. We hope you will join us on this journey!
